DJ
3D Bio:The distinctive sounds of Dj 3D draws from the
musically diverse streets of East New York, Brooklyn,
past and present.
From an early age, he was inspired
by the skills and techniques of artists like Dj Red
Alert, Marley Marl, Shep Pettibone, Chuck Chillout
and Tony Humphries. As a result of his dedication
and passion for music 3D developed his own unique
style, which is a combination of many genres: House,
Hip-Hop, Rare Grooves and Classics.
Dj 3D has had many highlights
in his career. In 1992, 3D collaborated with the famed
freestyle producer Carlos Berrios in order to infuse
Berrios’ productions with a flavor of ‘hip-hop’.
The resulting blend of drum samples, break-beats and
rare 70’s tunes became the new sound standard
of that era. 3D then formed another partnership with
producer Dean Landew to create Dance Baby Records
and Rap Baby Records. Together they released several
notable music projects including “Burn”
which won them a Grammy nomination in 1996.
Dj 3D's inherent love for music
and respect for the art of DJing inspired him to morph
classic beats into danceable, modernized house tracks.
His incredible ability to breathe new life and excitement
into classics has attracted the attention of many
distinguished Djs, in particular Dj Jazzy Jeff. Jazzy
Jeff was impressed by 3D’s talents so he arranged
for collaborations between 3D and other acclaimed
Djs/producers such as Terry Hunter and Kenny Dope.
Subsequently, 3D created numerous remixes that are
highly acclaimed and widely played. Kenny Dope, inspired
by 3D’s work started a new label, Throwback
Records.
In 2005, 3D was part of a major
project that involved scoring music for the documentary
film “TATs CRU - The Mural Kings.” He
composed individual sound tracks for every scene of
the documentary which brought the film to life and
allowed it to become a true work of art.
Since 2005, Dj 3D has maintained
a residency at APT nightclub in New York City, as
a part of The Ill Out Party with Dj Prince Paul and
Dj A.Vee. Aside from US appearances, he has also performed
internationally in major cities such as Shanghai,
Taipei, Vancouver, Whistler, Toronto and Montreal.
Other notable projects and performances include DJing
for Mark Ecko’s Block Party, Club Shine at the
Winter Music Conference, International Auto Show in
New York City and creating music for RockStar Games.
Currently, Dj 3D is producing
his album, The Alpha. He is also working on Brazilian-infused
beats for Sushi Samba Restaurants, one of the hottest
restaurant chains in NYC that releases exclusive branded
compilations.
Under the moniker, 3D recently
released a remix with Glenn Lewis on Terry Hunter’s
label, T’s Box, and is scheduling several other
releases on his own record label (EMM/MME). He is
also a resident Dj on The Underground Railroad, the
longest running hip-hop radio show in NYC history.
